Travel blogger urges influencers to pay for holidays – Travel Weekly
A traveler blogger asked influencers to help the industry return, actually paying for their vacation.
Ana Silva O’Reilly, who is known for her blog and Instagram page “Mrs. Around the World has published an action call for traveler bloggers and influencers, urging them to play their part in supporting the travel industry once it reopens.
O’Reilly has launched a new movement called #PayingOurWay, which discourages content creators from asking for free travel and tourism companies in exchange for content.
“When travel reopens and it is safe for us to travel again, do I encourage bloggers and influencers – who have benefited from many press trips, freebies and support in the past – to help the industry by booking their holiday stay? “Take a tour of the city – whatever you like – and if you like it then you create free content for the experience, without asking for compensation or for free,” he wrote in a blog post.
“In this way, we can help return money to the industry, promote the places and brands we love, and play a key role in continuing to inspire our networks to travel – at a time when industry is in dire need of our support.
“By doing this, we can secure the long-term future of the industry we enjoy so much, and that is the basis of all the content we produce.”
O’Reilly said she makes independent books and pays for many of the holidays she writes about on her blog, as well as working on destination, hotel and brand campaigns.
“But it is important for me to continue to support the industry with my own paid vacations,” he said.
“While I understand that the same practice may not be possible for all traveler bloggers and entrepreneurs, in the current context I felt it was more important than ever to promote the message of travel bloggers and #PayingOurWay influences to support the industry and turn on the spark again for traveling after these difficult times. “
Blogger asks other content creators to share their own posts about the #PayingOurWay movement, add tags to social media posts with the hashtag, book their next travel experiences, and share content to inspire their communities .
