New bloggers shine at Zim Blog Awards 2021
The bloggers were awarded the Zim Blog 2021 Awards with the list of winners released yesterday.
Notable among the winners were Bulawayo-based Afro-tribal musician Stewie Le Savage through his blog, Stttewielasavage and Ingudukazi Magazine.
A blog (an abbreviated version of “weblog”) is an online magazine or news site that displays information in reverse chronological order, with the latest posts appearing first, at the top. It is a platform where a writer or a group of writers share their views on an individual topic.

In a statement, the award organizers said they had received overwhelming entries showing the development of the medium.
“After 302 nominations, 6,681 votes and hours of scrutiny, we have reached the peak of the 2021 Zim Blog Awards. Over the last three editions, we have learned and grown and are pleased to see that the quality of content creators has increased with us.
“This time, we have five repeat winners and 20 new winners from previous editions. A positive sign for us that symbolizes the development of our creative industry. “It could also be a silver lining from the pandemic, as it gave creative time and opportunity to discover, rediscover, create and improve,” organizers said.
“The category that showed the greatest growth is the personal blog category. Increasing this version by 15% and the previous version by 8%, personal blogs are proving to be a great place to express your creativity.
“Often, we see content creators using them to write about their personal experiences covering a variety of topics from book reviews, mental health, fitness, food, relationships, politics, sports and social issues, but they do not really come to a specific issue . Many of the personal blogs are a mixed bag of well-designed content and this category continues to be the most competitive each year. “
However, the organizers noted that there are some categories that have not been developed as long as some had no more than three viable nominations, while some had no nominations at all.
“Photography, health and fitness, travel, food and drink, spirituality and religion, the automotive industry, education, family and parents, hair and beauty, the humanities, relationships and dating, are just some of the categories that received a low number of nominations. “There is a great opportunity for content creators to stand out from their personal blogs and dominate other categories,” said the organizers.
“A nice feature for us was to see nominations for the corporate blog category. Signs that the local corporate world is investing more in content creation and consumers are appreciating it enough to define their favorite corporate blogs. “
