We want to help you make more informed decisions. Some links on this page – clearly marked – may take you to a affiliate site and may result in you earning a referral fee. For more information, see How we make money.

We look forward to getting back on the road (or to heaven) once it is safe to do it again, but we also want to save money while doing so.

To that end, now is a good time to save valuable points and miles that you can later use for travel. Using credit card points or airline miles can help you travel with little or no cost, and saving in these currencies can now turn into a great return later when it is finally time to book this trip.

And, you do not have to fly to gain air miles. While resting as a journey stopper, you can not use many strategies to keep earning miles.

We have already taken a look at the Delta SkyMiles shopping portal, where you can only win Delta SkyMiles online through some of your favorite retailers. Today, we will dive into the Delta SkyMiles Dining program.

Combined, these are all useful strategies you can use to win and redeem Delta SkyMiles.

What is the Delta SkyMiles meal plan?

The Delta SkyMiles Dining Program is a free Delta Air Lines tool. It’s similar to the aforementioned shopping program, as you can earn miles using it to buy things you would have bought differently – restaurant meals, in this case when you dine or order from partner restaurants and pay by SkyMiles Dining by credit card.

How to join the Delta SkyMiles meal plan

To sign up for the Delta SkyMiles Dining Program, create a free account using your SkyMiles number and credit card. You could also use a debit card, but maximize your rewards if you use a credit card that earns food bonus points, such as the American Express® Gold card. This will earn you credit card rewards as well as Delta SkyMiles.

How to earn miles with the Delta SkyMiles meal plan

Once registered, you will earn SkyMiles every time you dine or order pick-up / drop-off directly at suitable restaurants. Just be sure to pay with the credit card you linked to your account when you signed up, otherwise you will not win SkyMiles. Because SkyMiles Dining only works with orders placed directly from or from restaurants, you will not earn miles when using third-party services such as DoorDash or Seamless.

Professional advice

Link your account to a credit card that earns bonus food points so you can earn even more valuable credit card rewards.

You can take a look at the full list of participating restaurants at the Delta SkyMiles Dining site. Enter your city and the cuisine you are looking for to narrow your search.

Depending on the type of membership you choose, you will earn a certain amount of SkyMiles in your purchases. If you choose not to receive contact messages from SkyMiles, you will win 1 SkyMile for every $ 2 you spend. If you choose to receive emails from SkyMiles, you will earn 3 SkyMiles per $ 1. If you are a VIP member, you will earn 5 SkyMiles per $ 1. Calendar year. They will start earning at VIP level in the 12th specialty transaction.

For a limited time, new members can also earn extra bonus points. You can win 1,000 SkyMiles by spending $ 30 or more at participating restaurants. Even better, if you are a member of the Medallion Elite regular Delta Flight Schedule, you can earn an additional 500 miles for a large 1,500 SkyMiles.

Additionally, all new members can earn an additional 500 bonus miles on each of the next four $ 30 food purchases in the first 30 days of their membership.

You must complete an online review for each restaurant within 30 days of dinner to earn bonus points. Bonus points for new members are in addition to the above profit percentages.

Best cards to use with the Delta SkyMiles meal plan

As mentioned, we suggest you use a credit card that earns bonus points when buying food. This is a practice known as “double dipping”, as you will earn credit card reward points, as well as Delta SkyMiles all in the same transaction.

In addition to the Amex Gold card, the Chase Sapphire Reserve and the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card are cards we would recommend you sign in to your account. Earn 3x and 2x Ultimate Rewards per dollar, respectively, in food markets. If you dine even less often, it is easy to see these bonus points increase rapidly.

Citi Prestige is another good credit card to use with the Delta SkyMiles Dining program, as it earns 5 times Citi ThankYou points per dollar for groceries.

Delta also has credit cards with American Express, but there is no particular advantage to using one of these cards with the meal plan. For example, the Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express card earns 2x miles per dollar for food. While this is still a high profit margin, there are better cards on the market for food rewards.
